Another iPod Touch With 2MP Camera Spotted in Vietnam

Once again the Vietnamese website Tinhte surprises throughout the technology world, and publish the first pictures of the iPod Touch with a camera on the back! The label "DVT-the 1st "on the back indicates that this is the first test unit (Design Verification Test) before they enter the production process, meaning that it can not be the final product.

Seems like the device is mounted on a test phase of the operating system (among other things, the boot logo is identical to that shown on the prototype Vietnamese iPhone 4G) Check the video after the break.

Android OS Coming Soon to an iPod touch Near You!

The same person who ported Android to the iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G is now working on bringing Android OS to an iPod touch (minus calling feature). We were anticipating this one for a while, and hopefully the port will see the light of day soon!

In a new blog post, Linux on the iPhone is reporting that the progress on Android to iPhone 3G is going quite well for now, though it’s taking a little time, but things are shaping up quite well and the binaries will be available in a short time. In the meantime, they attempted another port, Android on the first-gen iPod touch! Though it still needs some work before it is ready for primetime use. The extract from the blog post says:
Meanwhile, I am working on some stuff that is slightly more fun. Last night, I brought openiboot for the first-generation iPod touch up to scratch so that it supports all the features the other ports of openiboot support: sound, multitouch and SDIO (for WLAN) are the notable things I had to fix. Earlier today, I figured out how to drive the piezoelectric tweeter on the iPod touch.
So things such as multitouch drivers, WLAN and sound needs some work…
Hopefully, we’ll be able to roll out the iPod touch binaries with the 3G binaries and get on with the real work: power management and the little details that will make Android a truly viable alternative on our three early ports.
This is just great news. We’ll get our hands on the iPhone 3G binaries for the Android port the same day as the iPod touch binaries. We really can’t wait to try this port out ourselves! Sounds really exciting!
So is an Android port for iPad next? You bet!

Firmware Umbrella With One Click SHSH [Beta]

Couple days ago I posted a guide for how to Backup your SHSH blobs using Firmware Umbrella For Windows and Mac, But it was a little hard so Today Umbrella Firmware has been Updated and Adds one Click SHSH, the guide is very simple but meet after the jump..

The developer is working to bring a firmware umbrella that saves SHSH blobs with a single click just like autoshsh. When you download and run this beta firmware umbrella, it automatically detects the connected idevice.

There are some requirements in order to get the detection to work.
  1. You must have iTunes 9.0 installed.
  2. You must have java jdk 1.5 or higher.
  3. For the Windows version you need to be able to run it as administrator because I read the registry for the native library locations.

Once the Device is connected, hit the Save My SHSH button to save SHSH blobs for OS 3.1.3 for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G, OS 3.2 in case of iPad.

That’s it (for most users).

This updated version also features Advanced options. Clicking it brings the old look of the firmware umbrella. If a device is connected, the ECID field will be populated for your convenience. Or if you want to get the SHSH for another device, enter it like you did in the old version.

Please remember this firmware Umbrella version is still in beta and supports Windows and Mac only. Linux version is in works.

If you own an iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, and/or iPad, it’s highly recommended to save SHSH blobs. Follow the guides linked below to Save SHSH Blobs for iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

http://bit.ly/xNdBr <- old article, but I didn’t realize just how quickly updates can be made available.
        29 minutes ago via web

The decision was made after he read an year old article which detailed on how Apple patched SMS security hole, originally found in iPhone 3.0 by releasing iPhone 3.0.1 only a day after the exploit was found.

But there's always hopes by releasing it in the nearly few days as the dev-team said this:
Calm before the Spirit storm: http://is.gd/bNtJh ... iPhone3GS, iPod3G, and iPad owners make sure you backup your blobs!

For those of you asking for an unlock, well it now seems that an unlock for the latest baseband wont be release before the next-iPhone is released in June. iPhone Dev Team and Geohot both have got exploits which can unlock iPhone 3.1.3 and iPhone OS 4, but they don’t to waste it now for such a minor release.

here is the video again which shows it in action on an iPod touch 3G.

Use Your Mac’s Finder To Wirelessly Browse Your iPhone, iPod and iPad

There is no doubt that once you jailbreak your iDevices the world is at your feet. “World at your feet” is too romantic for you? Ok, let me put it this way, if you own an iPhone/iTouch/iPad and you are not jailbroken, you’re a sucka. You can do so much with a jailbroken iDevice, but what about downloading photos, print documents and move files wirelessly using nothing but the Mac OSX Finder?
You can do that thanks to Netatalk. Netatalk is a free and open source implementation of Apple Talk for Unix devices which, basically, lets you use Apple’s standard file sharing between a Mac and an iPhone, in the Finder. Read more about netatalk here…

This is pretty simple to do. Load Cydia on your iDevice, search for Netatalk ( free ) and install it. Your iDevice will respring, but you should reboot as well. Once your iDevices is back on, take a look at your Finder. You will see your iDevice under the “shared” tab. There’s only one trick: both of your devices should be on the same network.

Now, you can hit connect and that is it. The browsing magic begins…

NOTE: When you will hit connect, you will be prompted to login with your administrator credentials. You should login with your iDevice’s username and password ( u: root ; p: alpine – if you are still using the default password. We strongly suggest you change it… )

Blackra1n for iTunes 9.1 Jailbreak Fix for iPhone and iPod touch

An independent French developer has come up with another tool to fix all iTunes 9.1 problems on blackra1n’d iPhones running iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. This tool, like BlackBreeze promises to fix all issues that you may be having with iTunes 9.1 and your iPhone, running on jailbroken iPhone 3.1.2.

For those of you who don’t know, Apple changed the location of some of the DLL files in the latest iTunes 9.1 which prevented blackra1n RC3 to work properly with jailbroken (tethered) iPhones on 3.1.2 firmware. By using Blackra1n for iTunes 9.1, you can fix this all with ease.

Simply download Blackra1n for iTunes 9.1 and install it. Now start iTunes 9.1 and this latest patched version of blackra1n that you just downloaded. Connect your iPhone with your PC and click on “make it ra1n” to start your device.

NOTE: This version of Blackra1n is for Windows only, with iPhone and iPod touch running iPhone 3.1.2 firmware.

        12. Double Tap Home Button -

        iPhone Home Button Trick 1

There is a common misconception that you must press the "Sleep/Wake" button to bring your iPhone out of sleep mode. You can press either your home button or your sleep/wake button to wake your sleeping iPhone and bring up the "Slide to unlock" screen.

        iPhone Home Button Trick 2

You can assign several functions to "double-clicking" your Home button. Simply go to Settings -> General -> Home Button. You should arrive at this menu:

        Home_button_2

You can choose whether double clicking your iPhone takes you to your "Favorite" contacts, or brings up iPod controls. While phone favorites is convenient, setting it to iPod mode allows you to start music no matter what else you're doing. In other words, it brings up iPod controls (play, pause, skip, volume) over whatever other application you are running (Safari included).

Setting iPod Controls to "On" means that if you already have music playing, double clicking the Home button will bring up iPod controls even if you have the Home Button set to "phone favorites".

        iPhone Home Button Trick 3

Double clicking the home button from the "Slide to unlock" screen will always bring up iPod controls, right over the "Slide to unlock" screen. You can control your iPod without even unlocking your phone!
